Study in Turkey: private universities, Turkish- and English-taught degrees from $2,200 a year
Turkey is close, entry is visa-free for citizens of Uzbekistan, and private universities admit students without IELTS: you can learn the language in a preparatory year. We have collected the universities’ official fees, explain how the discounts work and walk you through the residence permit.
At Istanbul Kent University a Turkish-taught bachelor’s costs $2,200 a year and an English-taught one $2,900 (paid a year in advance). At Istanbul Yeni Yüzyıl University it is $2,500 a year with a 50% scholarship. A master’s at Kent costs $2,500–3,500 for the whole programme.
02
No IELTS and no strict age limit
A language certificate is not required at admission: the university tests your language with its own exam, and if your level is not enough you spend a year in the preparatory course. There is no strict age limit; people apply after 30 too.
03
Visa-free and close to home
Citizens of Uzbekistan enter Turkey visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180. No separate student visa is needed: after arrival you apply for a student residence permit (ikamet).
04
A wide choice
Universities in Istanbul, Ankara and Antalya: business, psychology, IT and engineering, design, nursing, as well as medicine and dentistry (from $13,000 a year with a scholarship).
05
Under state oversight
Turkey’s private (foundation) universities are created by a separate law and work under the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), like state ones. Istanbul Kent University, for example, was founded by Law No. 6745 in 2016.

Visa
Entry and residence permit (ikamet)
For citizens of Uzbekistan the route is simple: visa-free entry, then a student residence permit.
Entry is visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180 (ordinary passport).
No student visa is needed: the requirement was dropped in 2014 for citizens of visa-exempt countries. You need an Acceptance Letter, issued after the deposit is paid.
Within a month of arrival, apply for a student residence permit at e-ikamet.goc.gov.tr and book an appointment with the migration office.
Documents: passport with the entry stamp, student certificate (öğrenci belgesi), proof of address (rental contract or dormitory letter), health insurance, 2 photos and the card fee receipt.
No consultancy can guarantee admission or a residence permit. We help you prepare the documents without mistakes and will check your case.

Questions and answers
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to study in Turkey?+
At private universities a Turkish-taught bachelor’s costs from $2,200 a year (Istanbul Kent, paid a year in advance) and an English-taught one from $2,500 (Istanbul Yeni Yüzyıl with a 50% scholarship). A master’s starts from $2,500 for the whole programme. Medicine costs $13,000–29,000 a year. Prices vary several-fold between universities, so compare the official fee lists.
Do I need to know Turkish?+
No. If you choose a Turkish-taught programme and do not speak the language, you start with a preparatory year (Türkçe hazırlık), usually up to B2. You can also choose an English-taught programme, where your English is checked by a certificate or the university exam.
Can I get in without IELTS?+
Yes. Private universities admit on your school certificate and test your language after arrival. Pass and you go straight into the first year; otherwise you take the preparatory year. With a certificate (for example TOEFL iBT 79 at Istanbul Kent) you can skip the preparatory year.
What does the "50% discount" in fee lists mean?+
At many private universities it is a payment condition, not a competitive grant. Istanbul Kent gives 50% off if you pay for the year at once; Yeni Yüzyıl lists the 50% scholarship price for every programme; at Antalya Bilim the discount depends on when you apply. Merit-based grants exist too; see our page about scholarships to study abroad.
Is there an age limit?+
There is no strict limit: people enter Turkish private universities at 30 and at 40. Your school certificate or diploma and average grade matter more.
Do I need a visa to study in Turkey?+
Not for citizens of Uzbekistan: entry is visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180, and no student visa is required from visa-exempt nationals. Within a month of arrival you apply for a student residence permit (ikamet) at e-ikamet.goc.gov.tr.
Can I apply straight after school?+
Yes. With a grade 11 school certificate you apply directly to a bachelor’s; the university looks at your average grade. Most universities start in autumn, with applications roughly March to September. Read more in study abroad after school, or ask us via contacts.
